Post Placement Options

After placing the viewports for the selected print template, the newly created template is automatically opened. The model is placed, the viewport contents are clipped to the viewport boundaries and the text placeholders (function and variable) are substituted. The user now has various tools available to finish the print. At least two functions would normally be run. The substitution of user defined text placeholders and the marking of any details in a multi-viewport print model.

Update Text Placeholder

This tool displays a dialog allowing the user to fill in the various text placeholders. Some such as date and time may already be filled in but can be overridden. Others, such as user defined placeholders, will have to be filled in after the print model is created. Select the text box beside the placeholder to be filled out and type the new text. A preview of the text will be displayed in the preview pane.

To enter multi-line text, select the arrow button to the right of the input area as shown below. When entering a new line, use <Shift+Enter>. When complete, use the <Enter> key.

Some placeholders are associated with a viewport, such as scale. Those will be displayed below the general placeholders.

After entering the text in the dialog, enter a data point in the view to initiate text placement in the print model.

Mark Overlapping Viewport Contents

If the print template has more than one viewport then it is possible that some of the viewport contents overlap. This is especially the case when one viewport represents an overview and the other represents a detail. The Print Preparation tool can place shapes in any viewports with overlapping contents with text indicators showing the location of other viewports. Only viewports with overlapping contents are shown. The dialog below indicates that the Main viewport shows information from both Detail A and Detail B. The Detail B viewport shows information from Detail A. The drop down menu shows where the detail marker text should be placed. If no detail markings are desired then No Detail should be selected. This is the default. If the detail shape is required but no text then select No Text.

To mark details, select the location for text placement for each viewport from the menu.

A sample detail mark is shown below.
